Ending Waste and Corruption ( Reflective Summary of the Editorial published in Sunday observer on 26th January 2020.)

President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has already begun to make our island a wast free country by taking all the posible steps. and he also has taken many adamant steps to put a fullstop to the corruption and wasteful expenditure in the government sector. This would even reduce the revenue to the government due to the subsidy paid to the public and industry. 'It is not the whistle that moves the train.' The Previous leaders' actions reminds us this saying. In the past five years the government has been paying Rs.23 million per month to a private company to rent a building in Rajagiriya to house the offices of the Agriculture Ministry while already having a well facilitated office building for the Ministry in Palawatte. This undehand transaction has funneled government funds into a private company. One of presidents first tasks to stop the corruption is giving orders to shift the building to its relevant building in Palawatte. This alone will not suffice the culprits. They shiulded also be duly punished . Furthermore  the government should investigate and carryout an island wide census and find out all the government agencies who ate guilty of the same practice. This is not the only cost-saving measure announced by the president.  He has also ordered not to take more than 10 delegates per overseas visit. He also shunned the VIP lounge at Bandaranayake Intenational Airport and told Ministers to follow suit. The Duty Free Permit given to MPs will be another casualty of this drive. Like wise President  Rajapaksa has the same zeal and vision for Sri Lanka and there is no doubt that he will act strongly against the twin evils of profligate expenditure and egregious corruption.

Timeless Commitment for Journalism ( Reflective summary of the editorial published in Sunday Observer on 2nd of february 2020)

The Sunday Observer reached it's 92nd milestone this week. Roots of this paper goes to February 4th 1834 when it was founded by two Colombo based British traders, G. Ackland and E.J. Darley. Then it was published bi-weekly in 1873.  Then this  paper became the first English Daily News Paper in Ceylon.  D.R.Wijewardene who was the vanguard of the Independence movement purchased the paper in 1923 and  changed the name to Ceylone Observer.After that Sunday Observer was established in 1928 and H.A.J. Hulugalle became its first Sri Lankan editor in 1930. The first task of the Sunday Observer was to support the independence movement which Mr.Wijewardene saw as the core mission for his newspaper. It waspublished in all three languages. He hired the finest editors and journalists for this mission to make imperialist give up their hold on this nation.
